SPEAKER: Pete Stair was our speaker on the subject of "What's New and Cool" referring to electronic and wireless communication. There has been a paradigm switch in the world of communication which has been massive. Previous ones have been Human Speech, Written Language, Movable Type, Telegraphy, Distance Telephone, Radio and TV. Then came wireless cell phones(2.2 billion on the world today), the internet used by 1.3 billion people(with no one in charge of regulation). Hurt by these new developments are radio, tv, newspapers, magazines as the use of new developments is generational; the young have less and less use for the old communications entities. The new devices such as U-Tube, Wilkapedia, My Space, Pod Casting, Net Flix, Blogs, etc. are developing faster and faster. See the SMCNC web site for specifics on many of these items. Voice recognition is one of the most interesting new developments to be watched and used. Pete Stair has a wealth of information which I believe leaves most of us in the SMCNC back in the dark ages of cell phones and E-Mails. The presentation was a wake up call to understand our grandchildren.
Here is a copy of his presentation.
