Date Destination Location Description
May 22, 2008 Croton Reservoir Westchester Count A moderate 3 mile stroll across the Croton Dam to a picnic area. Bring water, sandwiches and, snacks for lunch. Wives, friends, significant others are welcome. Wear walking shoes and bring rain gear if weather is doubtful. We usually stop for restroom, coffee (donuts!) on the way.

The Croton Reservoir is the collecting point for water from all reservoirs in the Croton Watershed. The original reservoir was called "Croton Lake", and was New York City's first upstate source of water. Around the turn of the last century, the City of New York enlarged the reservoir by constructing the New Croton Dam to supply the city with more water.

I hope many of you will join us on these fun outings. Bring your friends. No reservations needed. Just show up.
